Nathaniel “Nate” James Bartkus, 30, of Owensboro passed away March 3, 2026. He was born on June 26, 1995, to Damian and Avis Bartkus.
Nate graduated from Apollo High School in 2014 and had a natural talent for all things electronic. Known by friends and family as an electronic guru, he loved working with computers, building custom speakers, and figuring out how things worked. Nate also enjoyed riding his bike and spending time exploring his interests, always eager to learn and create. His curiosity, skills, and unique passions made him someone others often turned to for help and advice. Since childhood, he also had a special love for animals and a natural connection with them. Nate was a longtime employee at Jimmy John’s and built many friendships through his employment.
Nate is preceded in death by his grandmother, Maureen Bartkus.
In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his aunts, Diane Spies, Becky Gottsegan, Sara Germani, and Jessica Farbent; his uncles, Eric, Dave, Warren, and Loren; many cherished cousins; his beloved cat, June, and his wonderful neighbors who are family.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, with Nick Hetman officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 1:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
