Owensboro’s local food scene will take center stage this Saturday at 1:00 PM as Rogue Marine Services hosts the 4th Annual Burger Week Extravaganza.
Rogue Marine Services — a local dock and boat lift builder specializing in installation, repair, and the buying and selling of new and used boat lifts and docks — became involved with the event four years ago when it began as a small family-and-friends tradition. Since then, it has grown each year into a community gathering that many look forward to annually. The event is designed to support Owensboro’s local restaurants while bringing friends and families together.
Participants select a burger from the official Owensboro Burger Week menu, claim it in the event comments, and bring two of that burger (two per person — not per couple) to share amongst the group. The format allows attendees to sample multiple burgers in one afternoon without long restaurant lines or wait times.
This year’s event will also feature a half-pot raffle benefiting Daviess County High School senior, who is raising funds for an opportunity to travel abroad to study law.
Attendees will vote for their favorites, with three category winners receiving custom Burger Week trophies.
Organizers are also hopeful a local radio station will attend to help spotlight the event and participating restaurants.
“We love this community and the businesses in it,” said representatives of Rogue Marine Services. “Supporting other local businesses is important to us. Plus, boaters need a little wintertime socializing — even if we’re all ready to get back on the water.”
A limited number of participant spots are still available.
