Alaric and Kim Libby are bringing a new spin on outdoor entertainment to the tri-state area with their mobile laser tag business, Libby’s Lazer Ops.
Launched in April, Libby’s Lazer Ops sets up tactical laser tag games wherever customers want — from backyards to parks — complete with barriers, inflatable bunkers, and dozens of possible game modes.
“We are a mobile laser tag company. We bring the equipment, set up the field, run the games, and help everyone have a blast,” Alaric Libby said.
He said the equipment is designed for older children and adults, generally ages 10 and up. The laser tag guns can shoot up to 300 feet, though he said bright daylight can reduce that range slightly.
The idea originated from his passion for movement-based outdoor activities and a desire to introduce more options to the region.
“I lived in Washington state for a while, and they had really cool, three-story laser tag arenas. Then I went to Colorado and played at Battlefield Colorado — an outdoor laser tag park. It was intense and thrilling, and I wanted to bring something like that here,” he said.
Events typically host up to 10 players at a time, with games lasting anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. Packages start at $250 for an hour of play with the full tactical field setup, which includes paintball-style inflatable bunkers and barriers.
Libby said the games are popular for birthday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, youth groups, corporate team building, and neighborhood get-togethers.
“We’re aiming for an older demographic, but really anyone can enjoy it,” he said. “And we handle everything — from setup to running the games — so you don’t have to lift a finger.”
Libby’s Lazer Ops covers Henderson and surrounding areas within about a 70-mile radius, including Owensboro.
