Green River Distilling Co. is honoring the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary with a limited-edition whiskey release set to debut June 14 — the same date the Army was established in 1775. It is the official anniversary bourbon for the Army, offered in tribute to more than two centuries of service and sacrifice.
The commemorative bourbon will be available for the next year and marks a historic collaboration between one of Kentucky’s oldest licensed distilleries and the United States military.
“This whiskey is a salute to 250 years of courage, commitment and sacrifice,” said Col. (ret.) Mark Erwin, CEO of Lofted Spirits, the parent company of Green River Distilling. “As both a veteran and a leader in American whiskey, it’s an honor to raise a glass to the U.S. Army and the millions who have served to defend the freedom we cherish.”
The Army 250th Anniversary edition will be bottled at 111.1 proof — a nod to Veterans Day on November 11 — and carries a suggested retail price of $49.99. The small-batch bourbon blends 4- to 7-year-old barrels using a mashbill of 77% corn, 14% rye, and 9% malted barley.
According to a company release, tasting notes include flavors of caramel, black cherry, cocoa, and peppermint, with a rich mouthfeel of toffee and toasted oak followed by a bold, lightly spiced finish. It will be available at Green River’s homeplaces in Owensboro and Louisville, on select military bases, and at participating online and in-person retailers across the country.
A portion of proceeds will benefit programs supporting soldiers and their families, including resources for wellbeing, sports, fitness, libraries, and recreation. Lofted Spirits also contributes annually to veteran-focused nonprofits such as The Special Operations Warrior Foundation, the Special Operations Fund, USA Cares, and the Bardstown-Nelson County Veterans Memorial.
Packaged in Green River’s iconic horseshoe-shaped bottle and dressed in the Army’s official colors and insignia, the release represents a tribute to the Army’s legacy and its deep-rooted ties to American independence and craftsmanship.
