Two Owensboro professionals have been selected for the 2025 class of Leadership Kentucky, a prestigious statewide program that brings together leaders from across the Commonwealth for 7 months of education, connection, and collaboration.

Jamie Johnson, Director of Entrepreneurship for the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation, and Kelly Armour, Director of Engagement and Wellness at Owensboro Health, are among 52 leaders chosen for this year’s program, which includes immersive 3-day sessions in locations ranging from Pikeville to Paducah.

Johnson said she’s eager to gain insights from communities across the state and bring that knowledge back to Owensboro.

“I applied because I want to learn how other communities across the Commonwealth are creating opportunities and driving progress in areas that matter to us in Owensboro,” Johnson said. “This program is a chance to step outside of my day-to-day work, connect with leaders from across the state, and see firsthand what’s working well in other regions. I’m excited to bring back fresh ideas and new partnerships that can help us continue building momentum in Owensboro.”

Armour said she sees the experience as a way to ensure healthcare remains part of the statewide conversation and to explore how Owensboro Health can help address broader challenges.

“I care deeply about Kentucky and the challenges our communities face across the state,” Armour said. “Being surrounded by people from different industries, regions, and backgrounds is an opportunity I value — and one I believe our state needs more of. I hope to build strong relationships with others who are passionate about moving our state forward, while also gaining new perspectives that will help me serve more effectively in my work and in my hometown.”

Leadership Kentucky’s 2025 class will visit nine locations across the state between June and December, with session topics covering everything from economic development and natural resources to healthcare, education, and social issues.

Leadership Kentucky was founded in 1984 and has become one of the oldest statewide leadership programs in the nation. Participants are selected through a competitive application process and represent a wide range of industries and regions.
