A 29-court pickleball complex is planned for the former Macy’s space at Towne Square Mall, according to documents obtained by Owensboro Times.
Plans show 21 courts will be located indoors, with another eight outdoors on the west side of the former mall property. The documents also outline the footprint for Malibu Jack’s, which is slated to occupy much of the central portion of the former mall.
TSM Holdings, which owns the Towne Square Mall property, purchased the former Macy’s building in 2023 for $1.96 million. The company had previously acquired the rest of the mall, excluding Macy’s, in 2019 for $5.15 million. Gulfstream Commercial Services LLC brokered that deal and later assumed management of the property.
The nearly 80,000-square-foot Macy’s had always been independently owned and operated separately from the mall. When Macy’s closed in early 2020, the space was left vacant.
TSM Holdings declined to comment on the pickleball project.
