The third annual Harvest Festival is set for today and Sunday at the Daviess County Lions Club Fairgrounds, carrying forward the legacy of the longtime Reid’s Orchard Apple Festival.
Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday at 6191 KY 54 in Philpot. Admission is free, with parking at $5 per vehicle.
The festival will feature craft and food vendors, nonprofit booths, games, and family-friendly attractions. Homemade baked goods, local produce, and fall favorites like caramel apples will be available throughout the weekend.
There will be a Pet Costume Contest at noon on Saturday, with a $5 entry fee. It will be held in front of the small gazebo in the food court and will be judged by the Harvest Festival Pageant Queens. Contestants will be judged 1-10 in originality, creativity, and presentation.
Saturday’s music includes Ariel Harper from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Nightlife from 12:30- 3:30 p.m., and Lucy Jagoe Chaney and Emmy Kate Williams from 4-6 p.m. Sunday will feature Happiness Jones from 12-2 p.m. and the Blue Bridge Boys from 2-4 p.m.
Now in its third year, the Harvest Festival continues the tradition that began in 1986 as Reid’s Orchard Apple Festival. In 2023, Bill and Kathy Reid passed the torch to the Lions Club to ensure it could keep growing in a new home, and the event was rebranded as the Harvest Festival.
