Local artist Aaron Kizer will be the Grand Marshal at this year’s Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade, while retired battalion chief Steve Leonard will be the Honorary Grand Marshal.

With the theme “Christmastime in the City,” the parade is set for November 22 and will run along 2nd Street.

“Our first parade was in 1937,” said board member Jane Head.  “We’ll be celebrating all of our past Christmases this year.”

The parade will be live-streamed on the Owensboro Times Facebook, with live commentary from Head and WBKR personality Chad Benefield.

“We invite all businesses and nonprofits to be part of the fun this year,” Head said. “Entries can be made online at ChristmasParade.net. The small entry fees help us to offset our costs.”

Nonprofit float entries are $50 and commercial entries are $150 through early-bird registration, which ends on October 31. Entries will be accepted through November 10 at standard rates.

There are full sponsorships available as well, ranging from $250-$1,000.

More details about float entries, vendors, and sponsorships can be found on ChristmasParade.net.

While the city helps with some aspects of the parade, the event is actually put on by the nonprofit Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade Association. The Association has a board and utilizes volunteers to host the parade. The funds to produce the parade come from entry fees, vendor fees, sponsorships, and donations.
