St. Benedict’s Shelter is celebrating two decades of service in Owensboro by launching its 2025 Bed Sponsorship Campaign, inviting residents, churches, and businesses to support its mission by sponsoring a bed for $500.
“Since opening in 2005, the shelter has provided refuge, dignity, and faith-based support to thousands of people experiencing homelessness,” said Executive Director Harry Pedigo.
He added that this year’s campaign carries special meaning as the organization reflects on its growth and looks ahead to new initiatives.
“This campaign is about more than beds. It’s about rebuilding lives,” Pedigo said. “Each sponsorship helps us expand services, strengthen case management, and empower our residents toward lasting success.”
Sponsorships directly support expanded programming, enhanced case management, and pathways to long-term housing. Each sponsor will also be recognized on a commemorative plaque inside the shelter, with the option to include their own name or honor a loved one.
Donors can give by mailing a check to 1001 West 7th Street or by contributing online at stbenedictsowensboro.org.
The campaign also serves as a bridge to the shelter’s next major effort: the Nehemiah Initiative, a faith-based restoration program launching in January 2026. The initiative will focus on structure, spiritual formation, community service, employment readiness, and long-term stability.
“Together, we rise — just as Nehemiah did,” Pedigo said. “We invite the community to join us in this sacred work.”
