Wendell Foster is hosting its “Close-Ups with the Clauses” photo session this Saturday. The free event includes portraits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, plus other activities. Returning this year is a sensory-friendly hour for individuals who are on the autism spectrum or have sensory-related challenges.
The event will be held in the Elmer Administration Building on Wendell Foster’s campus, located at 815 Triplett Street.
The sensory-friendly hour will be from 9-10 a.m., during which time the lights will be lowered and music will be turned off to promote a calming, quiet environment. Flash photography will not be used during the sensory-friendly hour.
The event will open for all other attendees from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. No reservations are required in order to attend the event.
Each attendee who takes a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus will receive a link to digitally download their photo after the event.
Kara Howard, Vice President of Development and Community Engagement at Wendell Foster, said the organization started the event in 2022 to welcome community members to the campus to celebrate and enjoy the holiday season together.
“Close-Ups with the Clauses has truly become one of our favorite holiday traditions,” Howard said. “We’re proud to host this event at Wendell Foster, creating opportunities for everyone to enjoy a joyful and inclusive holiday experience. With the Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade taking place later that day, we hope families will stop by to kick off a day of festive fun with us.”
