After a decade at its current location, Boutique 54 is preparing to open the doors to a new space, one that owner Rhonda Carrico says reflects both the growth of her business and the support it has received from the Owensboro community.
The women’s boutique will close its current storefront at 3245 Mt. Moriah Ave. #5 after business hours on January 7. It will reopen at 4531 KY 54, Unit 3 (in the Ritzy’s Plaza), with a projected opening date of February 2. Store hours will remain Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and all gift certificates and store credits will transfer to the new location.
Carrico said the decision to relocate was shaped by a mix of practical considerations and opportunity.
“Our lease was coming up, and there were some building issues, but beyond that, it just felt like the right time for something better,” she said.
Carrico said working with plaza owners Mike Courtney and Grady Harreld helped solidify her decision.
“They have been extremely supportive in every decision and have truly had our best interest in mind throughout the entire process,” she said. “I knew that my prayers were answered and that the best decision for Boutique 54 and our customers was to move our location to their Plaza.”
The new space will also bring a noticeable visual change for customers. While Boutique 54’s current store features darker tones, Carrico said the new location is being designed to feel brighter and more open.
“It’s going to be very bright compared to what we have now,” she said. “It’s going to be a beautiful space.”
Since opening Boutique 54, Carrico has focused on offering inclusive sizing and a curated selection of clothing and accessories, something she said has helped the business grow steadily over the past 10 years. Carrico said community support has been central to Boutique 54’s success.
“The support from the Owensboro community has been the key to everything,” she said. “Our customers, designers, vendors — all of them — have made these 10 years possible.”
Carrico said customers can expect significant sales leading up to the move.
“We invite everyone to come shop with us before the move, and then come see us once we reopen in our new location,” she said.
