Nearly two years after opening inside the Days Inn on New Hartford Road, El Camino Real is preparing to add a second location.
Co-owners Hember and Jaime Lozano are currently renovating the former Amvets 119 building at 1400A Triplett Street, with hopes to open in the first couple of months of 2026.
El Camino first launched in January 2024, offering what Hember described as a different spin on Mexican cuisine — one built on seasoning, affordability, and a menu distinct from many other local spots. Since then, the small restaurant tucked inside a hotel has developed a loyal following.
Hember said the original location will remain unchanged, continuing to serve both hotel guests and locals. While dinner is offered daily, they also serve lunch Monday through Friday.
He added that the success of the New Hartford Road restaurant has been meaningful, especially after relocating from a previous venture in Livermore to be closer to home.
“I live here. I don’t want to be driving all the time,” he said. “That’s why we decided to come. And I just want to say thank you to our customers.”
The new Triplett Street location will carry the same menu and concept, expanding El Camino’s reach while keeping the heart of what has made the restaurant a local favorite.
