Habitat for Humanity of Owensboro-Daviess County has launched a new initiative called “Owensboro Builds Hope,” a community campaign aimed at strengthening affordable homeownership opportunities for local families.
The campaign encourages community members, churches, civic groups, and businesses to support the mission through financial gifts, volunteer service, and partnerships.
“With housing costs rising and many families struggling to find safe, affordable options, Owensboro Builds Hope will help expand Habitat’s ability to serve more households across Daviess County,” said Amanda Green, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County. “A stable home changes everything — health, education, and the ability to plan for the future. Owensboro Builds Hope is an invitation to our community to come together — because when we build alongside families, we’re building more than a house. We’re building hope.”
The effort will support new home construction and help families achieve long-term stability through affordable homeownership.
Community members can support the campaign in several ways:
- Donate: Contributions help fund building materials, home sites, and affordable mortgages.
- Volunteer: Help is needed year-round on construction sites, at special events, and in life-skills workshops for applicants. No experience is necessary.
- Partner: Businesses, churches, and civic groups can sponsor builds, lead workplace giving campaigns, organize volunteer teams, or offer matching donations.
Habitat’s homeownership model involves families completing financial education and “sweat equity” hours before purchasing their homes with an affordable mortgage — creating long-term stability while reinvesting in the local community.
