Ole 60 and Sons of Habit will ring in the new year with a sold-out show at the Owensboro Sportscenter — a full-circle moment for both locally-born bands, who are eager to perform in front of a hometown crowd.
“There’s no better place to play live music than Kentucky, and there’s certainly no better feeling than playing at home,” said Ole 60 frontman Jacob Ty Young. “It feels amazing to be home for this show. I can’t think of a better way to wrap up an amazing year.”
The show is set for Dec. 31, with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. and music beginning at 8:30 p.m. The concert features Rob Langdon as well as both Ole 60 and Sons of Habit — longtime friends who’ve spent the past year touring together and making a name for themselves across the country.
Young said Ole 60 has been blown away by the growth they’ve experienced since first emerging with their debut EP, Three Twenty Four. The band released their first full-length album, Smokestack Town, in October and plans to continue touring in support of the project through 2026.
“We were always confident that if we worked hard and continued putting ourselves into the music that good things would come, but we never imagined it would become what it is today,” Young said. “We’re very blessed to get to do what we love every day and call it work. Every day is a new and exciting adventure, and we can’t wait to see what this new year brings.”
He said the band drew inspiration from Foo Fighters when developing a lighthearted marketing strategy for their recent release, featuring exaggerated characters in a series of music videos.
“At the end of the day, we’re just having fun and trying not to take ourselves too seriously,” he said.
Sons of Habit frontman Mitchell Douglas said playing in front of a sold-out crowd in Owensboro is a dream come true.
“Excited is an understatement to say the least,” Douglas said. “We’ve been talking about this one and getting ready for it since we found out months back. It’s the biggest show of the year without a doubt — nothing like playing for a sold-out crowd back home.”
Douglas praised Ole 60 for giving Sons of Habit a major opportunity earlier this year, bringing them along for a West Coast tour and additional shows nationwide.
“The Ole 60 guys have been game-changing for all of us and our careers,” he said. “To see where they’ve gone in the last two years and seeing it firsthand all across the country is the best feeling imaginable.”
Douglas said Sons of Habit has more major announcements coming soon, including new music, festival appearances, and international tour dates.
“We’re just thankful for Owensboro and everyone who’s supported us from the beginning,” he said. “This show is going to be one the city will be talking about for years to come, and we can’t wait to see everyone on the biggest night of the year.”
