Owensboro Dance Theatre’s German American Bank Nutcracker will return to the RiverPark Center for its 33rd annual run this weekend, featuring a blend of local talent and professional performers.
More than 260 cast members are scheduled to participate, including 210 local performers, 48 Company and Apprentice Company dancers, and five professional dancers from around the world. The production will run December 5-7 at Cannon Hall and includes new costumes alongside traditional elements.
Matinee performances for area schools are set for December 5, with public performances to be held December 6 at 7 p.m. and December 7 at 3 p.m.
This year’s cast includes Owensboro native Mason Head in the role of Mother Ginger. While he noted he has limited artistic experience, Head said he’s excited to take part in the community production.
The annual Snowball Daddy Daughter Dance, sponsored by The Way Agency, will also return on December 5 from 6-8 p.m. at the RiverPark Center. The event is sold out and will include dancing, treats, appearances by Nutcracker characters, and a visit from Santa.
Owensboro Dance Theatre has produced The Nutcracker each holiday season since 1992, with the goal of offering an accessible performance that brings together families, students, and the broader community.
