What began more than three decades ago as a balloon-twisting and magic business has grown into a regional entertainment company offering foam parties, faux snow, and live performances for families, schools, and community events.

Daniel Herron, owner of Daniel’s Fun Foam Factory and The Balloon Guy Entertainment, said his career in family entertainment began 32 years ago with magic shows and balloon work. As his balloon-twisting skills developed, he began competing at conventions, where he consistently placed among the top finishers.

“In 2010, I won the ‘Top Twister’ award at an international competition,” Herron said. “That’s the equivalent of winning a gold medal in the Olympics of Balloon Twisting.”

Herron said the COVID-19 pandemic forced him to rethink how he could continue providing entertainment when public events came to a halt. With most traditional shows canceled, he looked for an outdoor, socially distanced option that families could still enjoy.

“In 2020, when Covid emerged, all public shows and balloon twisting gigs virtually ended,” Herron said. “Looking for alternative ways to produce family entertainment that I could accomplish outdoors and operate within the once restricted boundaries of the virus, Daniel’s Fun Foam Factory was born.”

Herron said foam parties quickly filled a gap in the entertainment market as families looked for new experiences following pandemic restrictions.

“The old ‘go-to’ entertainment for birthday parties — the inflatable ‘bounce house’ — had saturated the market, and they seemed to be losing appeal,” Herron said. “A perfect storm of situations allowed the new division of ‘The Balloon Guy Entertainment’ to emerge.”

Now entering its sixth year, Daniel’s Fun Foam Factory has provided foam parties for schools, libraries, company picnics, farmers’ markets, birthday parties, and a variety of outdoor events throughout the region.

A typical foam party features a 30-foot by 30-foot area filled with foam piles reaching three to five feet high, accompanied by age-appropriate music and a foam cannon that produces continuous bubbles. Herron said the foam is designed to be safe for both people and animals.

“It’s foam that doesn’t sting or burn the eyes, is non-toxic, biodegradable, and hypoallergenic,” Herron said. “The foam doesn’t harm the grass or plants and is safe for pets as well.”

Herron said the business has also partnered with animal organizations, including the Humane Society, to host foam events for dogs.

“The dogs love to run and play in the foam as much as anyone who attends our foam parties,” he said.

In recent years, Herron has expanded his offerings to include a faux snow machine, allowing him to create indoor or outdoor snowfall for seasonal events. Herron continues to offer balloon twisting and magic shows, particularly during the holiday season.

Daniel’s Fun Foam Factory is based in Henderson and serves locations within a 100-mile radius.
