After more than a decade in business and nearly 40 years in the sign industry, Jamie Fulcher is preparing to sell SignPros and relocate to Alabama with his family. Buyer inquiries are now being accepted for both the business and the property.
Fulcher launched SignPros in 2010 out of his garage with a borrowed vinyl cutter and a plywood table he built himself. Within a year, the business had outgrown the garage, and Fulcher moved into a shared space before eventually opening his own shop. In 2017, SignPros moved to its current location at the corner of Hall Street and Parrish Avenue.
“We’ve been running full tilt ever since,” Fulcher said. “We’re actually the only certified legal electric sign company in Owensboro.”
The business and building are both up for sale, either together or separately, though Fulcher said his preference is for a single buyer to take over both. He said he plans to remain operational through mid-April unless a buyer steps forward sooner.
“We’re moving to Daphne, Alabama, to be near family at the end of May,” Fulcher said. “Our son is a junior at Auburn, and our daughter is graduating from high school this year. There’s really nothing keeping us in Owensboro now, and we just fell in love with the area down there.”
Fulcher said he already has a home in Daphne and plans to work part-time for a local sign company after relocating.
“I love what I do — the design work, the installs, even the maintenance,” he said. “But I’m ready to not be the guy running the whole show full-time anymore. This is sort of a semi-retirement for me.”
Sign Pros is a full-service sign company offering everything from decals and banners to channel letters, cabinet signs, LED message centers, and partial vehicle wraps. The business also handles corporate installs, electrical sign service, and more.
Its assets include:
- A 64-inch eco-solvent ink printer, matching vinyl cutter, and laminator
- Two 42-foot working height bucket trucks
- Fabrication equipment for building lighted signs (welders, plasma cutter, brakes, saws)
- A customer base Fulcher describes as loyal and long-term
“I’ve built this business from the ground up, literally,” he said. “What’s kept us going is treating customers like long-term partners. If you take care of people, they come back, or they send someone else your way.”
Currently, Sign Pros has four employees, including Fulcher. His mother handles phones and invoicing part-time, and the vinyl production worker is currently part-time due to winter’s seasonal slowdown.
Fulcher emphasized that serious inquiries about the sale should be directed to Scott Higdon with Gulfstream Commercial Services, the listing agent for both the business and property. Higdon can be reached at 270-685-9007 or [email protected]. Access the listing here.
Fulcher added that while he’s ready for his next chapter, he hopes to pass the business on to someone who can build on its foundation.
“I just want to see somebody take it and keep going — grow it even bigger and better than what we’ve built,” he said.
