Green River Distilling Co. will release Green River Wheated Full Proof Bourbon beginning this Friday, expanding its award-winning wheated lineup with a higher-proof expression the company said is aimed at bourbon enthusiasts seeking bolder flavor.

The new release is made using Green River’s signature wheated mashbill of 70% corn, 21% wheat, and 9% malted barley. It carries a suggested retail price of $49.99 and will be available in 25 markets.

Green River’s wheated bourbon recipe was named Best Overall Bourbon at the 2025 New York World Spirits Competition. The full proof release builds on that recipe by bottling it at barrel strength for a more robust flavor profile.

“Wheated Full Proof is our way of giving fans a richer, more intense experience of the wheated bourbon they already love,” Master Blender Dan Callaway said. “We kept the same mashbill and commitment to balance, then selected and blended barrels that truly shine at barrel strength.”

Wheated Full Proof will be released in variable batch proofs ranging from 109 to 116. The initial batch is bottled at 109.3 proof, or 54.65% alcohol by volume.

The bourbon is aged 5-7 years in Green River’s clay tile warehouses, which provide natural insulation and contribute to accelerated flavor development. According to the distillery, the aging process enhances vanilla notes, caramelized wood sugars, and the overall wheated profile.

“At Green River, it’s not about hype,” Callaway said. “Wheated Full Proof doubles down on our commitment to making Kentucky bourbon with uncompromising value.”

Wheated Full Proof will be sold exclusively in 750 mL bottles and will feature Green River’s signature horseshoe bottle design. A copper-accented tax strip will distinguish the new expression from the core lineup.
