Do you know a kid or teen with an entrepreneurial spirit, or one already turning ideas into a business? They can now apply to be featured as one of Owensboro Parent’s Young Entrepreneurs, an initiative designed to celebrate and help support business-minded youth in the community.

The feature highlights young innovators from across the community, whether they’re selling a product, offering a service, or developing a business idea they hope to grow. Selected entrepreneurs will be featured in an upcoming issue of Owensboro Parent magazine, a publication of Black Box Media.

In partnership with Independence Bank, participating entrepreneurs will also have the opportunity to be considered for financial investments to help support their businesses. Three standout submissions will be selected by an expert review panel at Independence Bank to receive awards of $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place. All featured entrepreneurs will be recognized, with award recipients announced during a special presentation at Independence Bank.

“Owensboro’s Young Entrepreneurs is one of our favorite features because it shows just how creative, driven, and capable our local kids are,” said Ashley Wedding, editor of Owensboro Parent. “This program is about encouraging confidence, celebrating initiative, and helping young people see that their ideas matter.”

Applicants are asked to complete a short form and submit an age-appropriate business plan that reflects the child’s ideas and goals. Business plans do not need to be complex and may be completed with guidance from a parent or guardian.

Applications can be filled out here. The deadline to apply and submit business plans is February 20.
