According to a National Weather Service Alert, a wind advisory has been issued for Daviess County.

According to a National Weather Service Alert, a wind advisory has been issued for Daviess County.

The alert cautions that strong winds will develop ahead of an approaching cold front today. The advisory remains in effect from 10 a.m. this morning to 7 p.m. this evening.

Strong wind gusts are expected from late this morning into the afternoon hours. Sustained wind speeds of 25 to 35 mph can be expected, with gusts of 40 to 50 mph.

Persons in the advisory area could see power outages due to tree limbs or other objects falling on power lines. Any loose objects left outdoors will likely be tossed around. Some trees or tree limbs may be downed by these strong wind gusts. High profile vehicles will encounter difficult driving conditions. Dangerous conditions expected on area lakes.

A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds are expected to reach 30 mph or greater for longer than one hour or wind gusts are expected to reach 40 mph for any duration.
