Owensboro Fire Chief Steve Mitchell has issued a fireworks restriction within 1/2 mile of the damaged O.Z. Tyler Distillery rickhouse. 
Within the designated area, no person may use, ignite, fire or explode any fireworks or consumer fireworks. This restriction will be enforced by the Owensboro Police Department.
According to a release from the Owensboro Fire Department, the potential for ignition of vapor, or the ignition of combustible materials from the use of fireworks at this site is of great concern. It is important to adhere to this restriction for the safety of the neighborhood.
The fireworks restriction within this zone is effective as of 3:30 p.m. June 21, 2019 and will remain in full force and effect until further notice, to include throughout the July 4th holiday.
