According to a Daviess County Sheriff’s Office news release, deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle complaint at the 1100 Block of Yelvington Knottsville Road in Yelvington at approximately 11 p.m. Thursday.
While deputies were speaking to the complainant, deputies observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of Highway 662 and sit there for about a minute. Deputies went to investigate and attempted to follow the vehicle, but it took off at a high rate of speed on Highway 405 heading north towards Maceo. The vehicle then turned west onto Highway 2830 and went off the roadway driving through several yards. Due to the reckless nature of the driver a pursuit was initiated and continued west bound on Highway 2830.
The vehicle continued onto Highway 144 getting momentarily stuck in the center median. Vehicle then went east bound on Highway 144 and then turned onto Reid Road. Vehicle then continued at a high rate of speed. At the 2500 block of Reid Road (Between Thruston Dermont Road and Jones Road) the vehicle went off the roadway, across a ditch, through a wooded area and came to a stop in an opening.
The driver was immediately apprehended and medical assistance was called to assess and treat the driver for injuries. Daviess County Fire Department, Thruston-Philpot Fire Department and Yellow Ambulance arrived on scene and assisted. The driver was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for unknown injuries. The driver is currently being admitted to the hospital. Charges are pending at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
