A 14-year-old female is facing several charges after a brief vehicle pursuit early Sunday morning, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
According to reports, at 1:05 a.m. a deputy with DCSO clocked a vehicle traveling 85 mph in a 55 mph zone northbound in the 8500 block of US 431.
According to DCSO, the driver then turned the headlights off and was swerving all over the roadway. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle but the vehicle failed to stop.
Deputies said after an approximate 3.5-mile pursuit, the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Frederica Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
DCSO discovered the driver was 14 years old and left the residence in their mother’s vehicle without their knowledge. The juvenile driver was transported by AMR to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for evaluation but complained of no injuries.
The juvenile was charged by DCSO for reckless driving, fleeing/evading police (motor vehicle), wanton endangerment – police officer, no operators license, failure to illuminate headlamps, and no tail lamps.
