Andy Ball has resigned from his position as Daviess County Emergency Management Agency Director.
Ball confirmed via text message Friday evening that he “did resign today for various reasons” but did not wish to comment beyond that.
Daviess County Judge/Executive Charlie Castlen similarly did not have much comment on Ball’s resignation.
“I heard it rumored after the meeting last night,” he said in a message Friday evening. “This (morning) I was told he had submitted his resignation. I was surprised when I heard the news.”
Ball had served as the County’s EMA director since December 2014. He also had several years of emergency management service from his time in the Air Force, where he served for 20 years before retiring in 2014.
Daviess County Emergency Management Agency (DCEMA) is the unit of local government with the lead role in preparing for and responding to natural and man-made threats, emergencies, and disasters.
In late May, Fiscal Court promoted former Daviess County Fire Chief Jeremy Smith to fill the newly created position of public safety director, which officials said would provide oversight and coordination between the Daviess County Fire Department, Emergency Management Agency (EMA), and other local agencies.
