Youth from all six locations of the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club gathered Thursday at the Mike Horn Unit for the Club’s annual AG Day, an educational event aimed at cultivating a deeper appreciation for agriculture.

The June 12 event, held at the Mike Horn Unit on Buckland Square and was part of the Club’s “Harvesting Dreams Project” and was sponsored by Cargill. The morning featured interactive activities and educational presentations led by local agricultural leaders.

Club members rotated through hands-on stations that explored topics such as animal science, food production, soil health, and farm technology. Organizers said the goal was to show how agriculture shapes local industries while opening young eyes to career paths in the field.

“AG Day gave our youth a chance to connect with agriculture in ways they may not have before,” said Kalie Winkler, director of marketing for the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club. “It’s about showing them that agriculture is more than farming — it’s science, business, innovation, and opportunity.”

Winkler said the event highlighted how agriculture is interwoven into everyday life and emphasized the importance of inspiring the next generation to see themselves in that space.

The event is one of several outreach efforts by the Club and its partners to empower local youth with knowledge and inspiration tied to community-based industries.
