The Disaster Recovery Center in Daviess County will permanently close at 7 p.m. on June 26, but residents impacted by the April severe storms and flooding can still apply for federal assistance through FEMA.
Located at the Stanley Fire Department (159 KY 1554), the Daviess County center is one of three centers statewide that will shut down this week. The other closures include Hopkins County’s center, which ends operations Wednesday, and Anderson County’s center, which also closes Thursday.
Until their closures, the centers will remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The centers have served as one-stop shops where storm survivors could apply for FEMA assistance, get help understanding application letters, check their application status, and connect with representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration and other state and federal agencies.
FEMA officials are urging Kentuckians affected by the April storms, straight-line winds, landslides, and mudslides to apply for assistance before the July 25 deadline.
While the Daviess County center is closing, several other ways to apply remain available:
- Online: DisasterAssistance.gov
- FEMA mobile app
- Phone: 800-621-3362
Those using relay services (such as VRS or captioned telephone) should provide FEMA with the appropriate service number when applying.
Applicants should be prepared to provide a current phone number, their address at the time of the disaster, Social Security Number, a general list of damages, insurance information (if applicable), and banking details for direct deposit.
