Despite blowing a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth, the Owensboro Post 9 Bombers found a way to respond in the top of the seventh, before scoring three runs in the top of the 10th to knock off Princeton Post 25 Senior Legion 6-3.

The Bombers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an Easton Blandford RBI single and added an insurance run in the top of the sixth after Logen Thomas scored on a Hayden Fisher single. Princeton took the lead in the bottom of the inning on a bases-loaded triple, but the Bombers responded in the top of the seventh with a Talan Cartwright RBI single.

Still tied 3-3 in the 10th, the Bombers broke the game open on Levi Rogers doubled to drive in a pair before scoring on a Grayson Smith single.

Reed Sherrard started on the mound, allowing three runs over six strong innings, striking out seven. Rogers and Smith both pitched in relief, combining for four shutout innings. Smith led the way at the plate, finishing 3-5 with an RBI, while Fisher went 2-5 with an RBI.

“We showed a lot of resilience tonight, “Owensboro Post 9 Bombers head coach Matt Freeman said. “Our pitching was fantastic. Sherrard, Rogers and Grayson Smith were dynamic, and the bats came up big late. This was a team win.”
