The Owensboro Family YMCA has been awarded a $13,000 grant from the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels to help fund a new toddler room at its childcare center.
The grant is part of $2.5 million the Kentucky Colonels distributed this year through its Good Works Program, supporting 343 nonprofits across Kentucky.
Commanding General Gary Boschert said in a release, “We were able to distribute $2.5 million through the Good Works Program that each of you generously supports. Every dollar you contribute to the Good Works Program goes out to nonprofits in the Commonwealth. Together, we helped support more than 4 million people this year.”
The YMCA said its mission is “to put Christian principles into practice through programs and services that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all,” and that providing childcare supports local workforce development.
The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit governed by an all-volunteer Board of Trustees. According to the release, since 1951, the organization has given more than $72 million in grants to over 1,700 nonprofits across Kentucky.
