A 35-year-old man has been charged with multiple counts related to the sexual assault of a juvenile, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a release, DCSO detectives with the Forensic Investigations Unit and General Investigations Unit were called to assist the Patrol Division deputies on July 15 regarding a report of juvenile sexual assault that occurred at a residence in east Daviess County (the specific address is not being released to protect the victim’s privacy and identity).
Authorities said the reporting party stated they learned the previous night that an adult male subject had been engaging in sexual activities with the reporting party’s underage family member, of which the reporting party has custody of.
The reporting party confronted the suspect, George Lewis Baize III, address unknown, according to the release. Officials said Baize fled the area prior to deputies arriving but was located a short time later and questioned. Baize admitted to having sex with the underage victim, authorities said.
Interviews were conducted with the victim and the adult family member, and evidence was collected at the residence and logged at DCSO, the release says.
Baize was charged and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center on the following charges:
- Rape, 3rd Degree
- Sodomy, 3rd Degree
- Sexual Abuse, 1st Degree
- Unlawful Transaction with a Minor, 1st Degree – Illegal Sex Act, Victim Under 16 Years Old
