A 68-year-old man was arrested Monday after deputies found methamphetamine, marijuana, and multiple firearms — including a sawed-off shotgun — inside a camper he was allegedly squatting in on private property in Knottsville, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a release, deputies responded to a report of an unauthorized person living in a camper on the backside of a property in the 9100 block of KY 144. The landowner told officials the man did not have permission to be there, authorities said.

Detectives with the DCSO Special Investigations Unit and Patrol Division made contact with the occupant, identified as Kenneth Raphael Johnson, whose address is listed as unknown. The release says that while speaking with Johnson, detectives noticed drug paraphernalia inside the camper.

The release says that a search of the camper uncovered several baggies of methamphetamine, digital scales, jars of marijuana, drug paraphernalia with residue, three handguns, and multiple long guns — including a restricted sawed-off shotgun, according to the release. After Johnson was placed under arrest, an additional baggie of methamphetamine was found in his pants pocket, deputies said.

All items were collected as evidence, and Johnson was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.

DCSO said Johnson is facing the following charges:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st degree (methamphetamine), 1st offense (firearm enhanced)
  • Trafficking in marijuana, 1st offense (firearm enhanced)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia (firearm enhanced)
  • Possession of a defaced firearm
