Drivers should expect lane closures and traffic delays starting today and lasting through early August as a resurfacing project resumes along KY 54 between Owensboro and Philpot.
The project will cover nearly four miles of highway, from Bold Forbes Way (mile marker 3.8) in Owensboro to KY 142 (mile marker 7.5) in Philpot. Crews were in the area earlier this summer to seal cracks and prep the road for paving.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, contractors will begin by removing highway reflectors on Wednesday, with milling operations set to begin Thursday. Paving will start Sunday evening on the four-lane section near Bold Forbes Way and continue east toward the two-lane section.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in various areas during the project, which is expected to be completed by early August. Once crews reach the stretch between KY 1456/Thurston Dermont Road (mile marker 4.5) and the two-lane section, flaggers will direct alternating traffic.
Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution in the work zone.
