The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says four Evansville, Indiana, men were arrested Friday evening following a pursuit in the Deer Valley subdivision near Masonville.

According to a release, deputies were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. to a suspicious circumstances call after a resident reported a blue passenger car driving slowly through the neighborhood. The caller said tape was covering the license plate and the four occupants were wearing ski masks.

Deputies located the vehicle in the 6400 block of Valley Brook Trace and attempted a traffic stop because the license plate was obscured. The release says the driver fled, leading deputies on a pursuit through the neighborhood.

A second deputy reported nearly being struck head-on as the suspects drove toward him before fleeing toward Hill Bridge Road. The pursuit ended near Highway 231 when the suspects encountered heavy traffic and deputies conducted a felony stop.

The sheriff’s office says all four occupants were detained, and a search of the vehicle revealed ski masks, a loaded AR-15 rifle, and a loaded 9 mm handgun that had been reported stolen.

A DCSO Special Investigations detective and Owensboro Police officers responded to assist. The case remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 270-687-8484.

The suspects were booked into the Daviess County Detention Center.
