In a pair of 9th District games, Daviess County shut out Apollo, while Owensboro Catholic came from behind to beat Owensboro.

Daviess County 6, Apollo 0

Bailey Brown scored two goals and had two assists to power the Lady Panthers past Apollo 6-0. Mary Evelyn Wiman scored twice, while Molly Floyd and Rayleigh Bell both found the back of the net. Caroline Whitaker, Hadley Morris, Wiman, and Floyd all recorded assists, while Kaelin Labhart and Delaney Maher combined for a shutout in net.

“It’s tough to score when a team is defending with eleven players, but we showed some patience and had some decent movement off the ball,” Daviess County Head Coach Paige Crisp said. “Finishing is something we’ll need to continue to work on. We played a lot of girls in a lot of different positions tonight, which is important when you’re trying to develop young players.”

Owensboro Catholic 2, Owensboro 1

Chloe Marston scored and had an assist in the Lady Aces’ 2-1 win over Owensboro. Allie Martson had the team’s other goal, while Felicity Payne had one save in net. Owensboro took a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute thanks to Ella Hall finding Lily Neiman. But the Lady Aces scored in the 48th and 67th minutes to come from behind.

“Even though we possessed the ball most of the first half, the girls were off their game,” Owensboro Catholic Head Coach Meg Patton said. “After making a few adjustments at halftime, we were much better. In the second half, we connected passes, and our midfield was able to find our targets on the wings in Scarlett Isenbarger, Annabelle Hancock, and Jayla Ray, as well as our forward, Allie Marston. The second half was much better, and I am very proud of our girls. Owensboro is a great team.”

For the Lady Devils, Hayley Sikes was a brick wall in net, finishing with eight saves.

“Ella Hall and Lilly Paige-Early led the defense tonight, locking down attempt after attempt on our goal,” Owensboro Head Coach Sarah Poole said. “Amelia Calhoun had an outstanding game at midfield.  I could go on and on about how well each individual player played, but more importantly, how they played as a team. We have had a heavy eight days of games, so the girls were tired. I told them that was on me. We are excited to build towards our next district games.”
