Southern Star Cares, a team-led nonprofit organization at Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, will soon be accepting applications from local nonprofits to receive grants worth up to $50,000.

Any tax-exempt, 501(c)3 organization serving Daviess County is eligible to apply. The application link, along with more information about the process, is available at southernstarcares.org. The application link will be available on August 11.

Grants will be awarded in three tiers: $2,500-$10,000; $10,000-$25,000; and $25,000-$50,000.

Southern Star Cares’ grants are funded by team members’ contributions. More than $128,000 was awarded to grant winners in 2024. All the funds raised by Southern Star Cares go directly to grant recipients, with no administrative fees or deductions.

“I am thrilled to kick off this year’s campaign for Southern Star Cares, continuing the spirit of kindness and community that’s fueled our journey since it began,” said Heather Clark, Board President of Southern Star Cares and Procurement Specialist in Owensboro. “We can’t wait to hear from nonprofit organizations across our community about the incredible projects and ideas they’re working on.”

The grant application period will remain open through September 8. Grant finalists will be announced the week of November 10, and grant recipients will be named the week of December 16.

Grant recipients are chosen based on information provided in their applications, a review by the Southern Star Cares Board of Directors, team member focus groups, and a vote from employee donors who contributed to the Southern Star Cares fundraising campaign.
