In a pair of 9th District games, Owensboro Catholic and Daviess County both won, while McLean County drew with Grayson County.
Owensboro Catholic 7, Apollo 0
Allie Marston scored four goals to power the Lady Aces to a 7-0 win over Apollo. Chloe Marston, Jenna Brey, and Meredith Traylor also all scored.
“Overall, our girls played great,” Owensboro Catholic Head Coach Meg Patton said. “Apollo packed it in, which forced us to make combination passes, and that’s exactly what we did. It was great to see the girls getting back into their groove tonight after a long weekend of soccer, where we went 2-1 on the weekend. I am very proud of our girls, and we are ready for our next district match against Daviess County next Tuesday.”
Daviess County 5, Owensboro 0
Mary Evelyn Wiman scored twice and had an assist in the Lady Panthers’ 5-0 win over Owensboro. Sasha Foster, Molly Floyd, and Madison Purcell all scored, while Kaelin Labhart had two saves in net.
“I think we showed some improvement in our finishing, which has been a major focus for us recently,” Daviess County Head Coach Paige Crisp said. “Our movement off the ball looked really good at times, and we’re getting more people involved in our attack. As a whole, we looked much more comfortable out there than the first time we played Owensboro.”
For Owensboro, Drew Kurz played the second half in net and had seven saves.
“We had several offensive chances, but did not complete any attempts,” Owensboro Head Coach Sarah Poole said. “Defensively, we played well for most of the game, but broke down several times, which led to goals.”
McLean County 2, Grayson County 2
Landry Humphrey scored twice, and Haley Louden had nine saves in net in the Lady Cougars 2-2 draw with Grayson County.
“This was a good result for us,” McLean County Head Coach Ricky Humphrey said. “We have a long week, so this was a good start.”
