A 30-year-old Owensboro man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for charges involving the sexual abuse of a minor.
According to court documents, Austin J. Jay was sentenced to a total of 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges earlier this month. He must serve at least 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
Documents show Jay was initially charged in June 2021 with three counts of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor (illegal sex act with a victim under age 16) and eight counts of use of a minor under age 16 in a sexual performance.
Jay pleaded guilty to all 11 original charges. Each charge carries a sentence of 18 years, to be served concurrently, according to court documents. Jay must also register as a lifetime sex offender as part of the agreement.
