The cable maintenance project on the U.S. 231 William H. Natcher Bridge will pause for the winter, and all lanes will be open by the end of the week, officials say.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the contractor handling the project is in the process of halting operations until spring. Crews have begun removing equipment.
The project will resume in the spring of 2026 when the threat of winter weather has passed, officials said.
The William H. Natcher Bridge is a cable-stay structure that opened in 2002, linking eastern Daviess County in Kentucky to southern Spencer County in Indiana. Around 8,400 vehicles cross the bridge daily.
