A motorcyclist was airlifted to a Louisville hospital following a collision with a passenger vehicle Tuesday evening, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
According to OPD, officers responded shortly before 6 p.m. on November 11 to a collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of West 2nd Street and Walnut Street.
Upon arrival, officers found the motorcyclist had been ejected and was unresponsive with serious injuries. He was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and later airlifted to Louisville for advanced medical care. His current medical condition is unknown, officials said.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was also transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with minor injuries, according to OPD.
Officials said preliminary findings indicate the motorcycle was traveling westbound on West 2nd Street at a high rate of speed and ran the stop light at Walnut Street, colliding with a passenger car traveling southbound on Walnut Street. The OPD Accident Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the incident.
