Several area teams were in action Friday night, with standout performances from Muhlenberg County’s Kason Morris and Daviess County’s Jonathan Moss leading the way.

Muhlenberg County 82, Owensboro Catholic 72
The Mustangs pulled away in the fourth quarter to earn a home win over Owensboro Catholic behind a dominant performance from Kason Morris, who poured in 27 points. Gavin Groves added 23 as Muhlenberg scored 27 in the final frame to seal the victory.

The Mustangs led 17-13 after the first quarter and 35-29 at halftime, then pushed the pace in the second half. Catholic stayed within striking distance, getting 21 points from Braylon Coots, 15 from Dre’Mail Carothers, and 12 from Jake Murphy.

Spire Academy 73, Daviess County 66
Spire Academy used a strong fourth quarter to outlast Daviess County in a competitive matchup. Reynold led all scorers with 32 points, including several key baskets late to hold off a Panther rally.

Daviess County was led by Jonathan Moss with 28 points. Mike Acton contributed 16, and DeAaron Watkins chipped in 10. The Panthers trailed by five at the end of the first and were down 37-36 at the break but couldn’t overcome Spire’s 24-point final quarter.
