A 28-year-old Owensboro has been arrested following a drug trafficking investigation that led to the seizure of multiple controlled substances, firearms, and cash, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a release, the Special Investigations Unit and Patrol Division executed a search warrant on December 16 at a residence in the 1700 block of Bluegrass Court after receiving information about possible drug trafficking activity involving Jacob Lee Tyler.
Earlier that day, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Gemini Drive, where approximately one pound of marijuana was found inside Tyler’s vehicle, according to DCSO. Investigators said the stop provided probable cause to obtain a search warrant for Tyler’s residence.
The release says that detectives seized approximately five pounds of marijuana, multiple boxes of THC cartridges, several bags and containers of pills including suspected benzodiazepines, a large bag of psilocybin mushrooms, scales, baggies, bongs, a heat-sealing machine, and U.S. currency. A loaded shotgun and a loaded 9mm handgun located near the suspected contraband were also seized, officials said.
Authorities said both the traffic stop and the residence are within 1,000 feet of a school, which was in session at the time.
All seized items were logged into evidence, and Tyler was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
Officials said Tyler is charged with trafficking in marijuana, first offense; failure to or improper signal; trafficking in marijuana over five pounds, first offense (firearm enhanced); trafficking in a controlled substance, third degree, first offense (firearm enhanced); trafficking in a controlled substance, second degree, first offense (firearm enhanced); and drug paraphernalia — buy/possess (firearm enhanced).
