It has been a productive week for Apollo wrestling as the boys took third at the Christian County Invitational, and the girls finished fourth at the Ohio Valley duals with a 2-3 record.
Despite being shorthanded, the boys’ team still finished the day 3-1, with Kevin Lopez and Jaxton Howard both placing first in their respective weight classes. Noah Pendley finished second, Brayden Mattingly and Conner Mayhugh were third, Clayton Pendley and Noah Bennett were fifth, and Iker Moreno was sixth.
“I thought our kids wrestled well,” Apollo Head Coach Courtney Johns said. “Lopez, Howard, Mattingly, and Pendley have been tough to beat this season, but I was really impressed with Noah Bennett. He is our backup 190 and has been working his but off all season, and that is starting to pay off.”
