Kentucky Wesleyan College has entered into a partnership that officials say will strengthen Wesleyan’s commitment to early American history, civics, and undergraduate research. The formal consortium agreement is with the McNeil Center for Early American Studies, one of the nation’s premier institutes for the study of North American history and culture.

Founded in 1978, the McNeil Center supports scholarship through fellowships, seminars, archival research, and the publication of original work in early American studies.

Through the agreement, Kentucky Wesleyan gains access to McNeil Center archival resources, research fellowships, and mentorship opportunities for students and faculty. The affiliation is expected to expand undergraduate research opportunities by allowing direct engagement with primary sources and collaboration with scholars in the field.

The partnership follows recent growth within Wesleyan’s history and civics programs, including the addition of Assistant Professor Danielle Celano, whose arrival this year further strengthened the college’s early American history faculty.

“This partnership increases our undergraduate research activity, raises our scholarly output, and supports the strong academic mission that defines Kentucky Wesleyan,” said Dr. James Cousins, president of Kentucky Wesleyan College. “It also affirms our belief that undergraduates should participate in meaningful research and places our students and faculty in direct conversation with one of the finest early American centers in the nation.”
