Owensboro Catholic’s Molly Arnold has signed with Lindsey Wilson University to continue her volleyball and academic career. Making varsity as a sophomore, she and the Lady Aces reached back-to-back 3rd Region Championship appearances, and this year led the team in digs with 429.

The senior spoke with multiple schools, but acknowledged that Lindsey Wilson quickly felt like home.

“I really just loved the environment,” Arnold said. “I visited multiple times, and every time it felt like home, and I could see myself being there. I have gone to Catholic basically my entire life, so I am used to a small school. I think that you are so much closer with everybody there because you know more people.”

Arnold first started hearing from colleges during her sophomore year, making her realize her dream was in sight. From there, she started to create social media accounts that highlighted her volleyball skills, growing her brand. It took her a while to get used to the process, but by her junior year it became smoother speaking with coaches.

“It’s just one of those things where you have to do so much research and just trust yourself on it,” Arnold said. “You can do as much research as you can, but it’s really just what you think and what fits best for you.”

During her recruitment process, Arnold was open to any school regardless of distance if it fit what she was looking for.

“I just wanted to be somewhere that felt like home, and I wouldn’t be worried too much about missing home because I just wanted to be in a great environment,” Arnold said. “I kind of got the best of both worlds because I got that, and I am closer to home than I was.”

With a few months left in her senior year, Arnold plans to enjoy her final year of high school and acknowledges that a massive weight has been lifted off her shoulders. Currently, she has been playing with her travel team, with a focus on improving her angles.

“I’m really happy to say I am a collegiate athlete,” Arnold said. “To be honest, I never thought that it was actually going to happen. I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a thing. I was just doing it and hoping that I would get offers. One day, the offers just started coming, and I was like, wow this is real. I am actually going to college for volleyball.”
