Students across a seven-county region of western Kentucky are being invited to use creativity to spark conversations around mental health as part of RiverValley Behavioral Health’s annual Youth Mental Health Art Contest.

The contest is open to students in grades K through college (ages 18–24) who live in Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union, or Webster counties. Participants are encouraged to submit an original visual art piece — including drawings, paintings, sculptures, poems, or similar works — centered on the theme “Be Kind to Your Mind.”

Submissions are due by April 16, 2026, ahead of Mental Health Awareness Month in May. One entry is allowed per student, and each submission must include a completed application form and a brief written description explaining the inspiration behind the project.

A $500 scholarship and certificate will be awarded to the Project of the Year winner in each division: K-4, 5-8, 9-12, and college. Each winning student will also generate a matching contribution for their school or nonprofit youth organization.

Additionally, the school or organization with the most entries will be named Mental Health Partner of the Year and receive a $1,000 award.

Entries may be mailed or dropped off at RiverValley clinic locations throughout the region.
