Kris Crawford is seeking another term as Daviess County West District Constable, a role he has held since 2018 after previously serving as a deputy constable for 14 years.

Crawford, 51, said he has dedicated nearly three decades to law enforcement and community service. He began in 1998 with the Indiana Department of Corrections before moving to the Daviess County Detention Center. In 2004, he joined the constable’s office as a deputy, later winning elections in both 2018 and 2022.

“I’m in a position where I can help the community and just be another set of eyes out there,” Crawford said. “As big as our community is, and with as much as always going on, it’s just another resource to help in a positive way.”

Constables are elected to represent one of three districts — East, West, and Central — though they hold countywide jurisdiction. The office primarily handles paper service, including child support, eviction, and warrant notices. It also provides security at events and offers assistance during emergencies or severe weather.

“There’s always papers to go around, and they never stop,” Crawford said. “We’re just somebody else in the community to help out wherever we’re needed, essentially at no cost to the taxpayer.”

Crawford also works for Daviess County Public Schools, which he said gives him another perspective on serving the community.

A registered Republican, Crawford said he doesn’t seek the spotlight but wants voters to know he remains committed to serving.

“I don’t like to make stuff about myself,” he said. “I just like to keep everything short and sweet and simple. I just want to let people know that I’m here and want to help.”
