June 16, 1950 - June 14, 2025

Mildred Cannon

Joan Armes Robbins peacefully stepped from this life into the arms of Jesus, her Saviour on Saturday, June 14, 2025, surrounded by her family. Joan left behind her husband of 54 years, James K. Robbins, her children Gary Robbins, Rebecca Martin (Jerry) both of Hardinsburg, and Tonya Kennedy (Terry) of Harned. Her grandchildren J. T. Henning (Laura), Makenlea Robbins, Bailey Kennedy, Ryan Kennedy and 4 great grandchildren.

She is survived by her siblings Jean Greenwell of Union Star, Ronnie Armes of Harned, Pam Miller of Hardinsburg and Mary Tucker (Timmy) of Garfield. An uncle Larry Lucas (Debbie) and several aunts Doris Butler (Finley), Nancy Lucas, Bobbie Lucas and Barbara Faye Lucas, as well as many nieces, nephews, their families and cousins who will miss her very much.

Joan lived a very full life. Being the daughter of farmers, she was a hard worker, going above and beyond with any project she worked on. Joan loved her family only second to Jesus and in every prayer she prayed, she asked God to lead, guide and direct our paths and may all the lost come to know Him.

Along with her three children, she and James provided love and a home to more than 100 children during their years of being foster parents. She worked for many years for Communicare where she greatly enjoyed her time with the people she came in contact with.

Anyone who knew Joan knew she was most happy while spending time with her family, taking care of her animals and making sure there was ice cream at every family function. She is remembered for having mice with her twin, Jean, when they were young, and you could count on Joan to transport creepy crawlies to the outdoors rather than dispose of them!

Joan is preceded in her change of homes by her parents Hardin G. and Irene Armes, a brother-in-law Randall Greenwell, many aunts, uncles, who, no doubt welcomed her with open arms on the other side of Jordan.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8

6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and be present with the Lord.

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11 AM with burial in the Horsley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 4-8 PM and Thursday after 8 AM. All times are central.
