Dennis Edmon Gilmore, 72, of Owensboro, passed away on June 15, 2025. He was born on May 21, 1953, to the late William Beverly and Rachel (Adams) Gilmore. Dennis displayed his love for God, family and others in everything he did. Whether it was traveling hours to drop off a box of cookies on a sales call while working at Miles Farm Supply or watching the grandkids’ countless plays, academic matches and robotic tournaments, he did it all out of love.
He found joy in constantly bragging on the love of his life (Judy) of 52 years while also finding every opportunity to love and be generous to his kids. Dennis was an elder at Owensboro Christian Church for years but he’d tell you that his time in the three year old church class with kids hanging on him was just as important.
After retirement, he sat for hours daily encouraging new and old friends at Gramps Coffee and Donuts. He was the master of telling incredibly bad jokes and still getting people to laugh and he had a daily mission to encourage and remind people that God loved them.
Along with his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by his sister Carol (Jerry) Smith.
Those left to cherish his memory and legacy include his wife Judy; kids Stephanie (Wes) Phelps, Greg (Amy) Gilmore; grandkids Ellison Phelps, Keaton Gilmore, Beckett Gilmore; siblings Sharon Gilmore Beyke, David Gilmore.
Visitation will be held on Thursday June 19th from 4-7pm and Friday June 20th from 10-11am at Owensboro Christian Church. Funeral service will be held on Friday June 20th at 11am at Owensboro Christian Church. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
