
Charles “Charlie” Ray Willis, 66, of Utica, passed away on June 19, 2025, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on December 8, 1958, in Bristol, Tennessee, and was the beloved son of the late Oliver Ray and Annie Clark Willis.
Charlie began his service to his country by joining the Marine Reserves after graduating high school in 1976. He later continued his career with the Army National Guard, where he served honorably until retirement. Charlie also worked as an automotive mechanic, a profession that reflected his hands on skill and strong work ethic. In his free time, he was a NASCAR fan, cheering on Jimmie Johnson, and he never missed a chance to root for the Cincinnati Bengals.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear wife, Susan; brother, Hugh Willis; sister-in-law, Stacy Willis; and nephews, Jonathan McDaniel and Lee Rouse.
Those left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Carol Alexander, Debbie (Roger) McDaniel, and Joe (Rebecca) Willis; step-daughter, Sara Blandford; nieces and nephews, Glen Alexander, James McDaniel, Jennifer Westerfield, Matt Willis, Kaysie Willis, Chelsea Owen, Cody Thompson, and John Rouse; beloved cat, Granite; 15 great nieces and nephews; three great-great nieces and nephews; as well as many other loving family and friends.
A celebration of life for Charlie will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday June 28, 2025, at South Hampton Baptist Church, 2949 S. Hampton Rd., Owensboro, KY 42303, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service. A graveside service will be held privately.
