Barbara Jean Haney, 84, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Owensboro KY, passed away on June 12, 2025, at Lakewood Ranch Hospital, Bradenton, FL. She retired from Owensboro Public Schools where she fondly contributed as a team member of Sutton School’s “Lunch Bunch”.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Lester E.
Haney. She is survived by her daughters Renee Snyder (William), Tonja Rankins (Jack) of Sarasota, FL, and son Lester E. Haney Jr. of Elizabethtown, KY. In addition, her grandchildren, Leslie Abell (Aaron), Logan Abell (Kesha), and one great-granddaughter, Lennox Abell.
Barbara will be missed by her beloved sisters, Peggy Aldridge and Sue Raines of Owensboro, along with many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Living Hope Community Church, 1709 Alexander Ave, Owensboro, KY on July 17, 2025, beginning at 10 a.m. followed by service officiated by Jerry Tanner, pastor at 11 a.m.
