Mary Lois Sutherland, 87, was born July 31, 1937, in Owensboro, KY. She entered God’s Kingdom on Saturday, July 19, 2025. She was greeted by her parents, Roy Monroe and Dora Agnes Eagan Henry; her beloved husband, Joseph A. Sutherland, Sr.; her sisters, Clorene Henry, Gertrude Baker, and Margie Sutherland; her step-grandson, Davy Siddons; nephews, Gary Baker, Greg Baker; and niece, Anita Fares.
Though Mary Lois was not blessed with children of her own, she was accepted with love by five stepchildren: Sharon Steinbeck, Dora (Don) Hulsey, Joseph A. Sutherland, Jr., Therese’ (Ric) Norris, and Annette (Gary) Glover. She also leaves behind her step-grandchildren: Jennifer Siddons, Chantae Hulsey, Jody (Sarah) Hulsey, Josh (Devin) Cook, and Terry Cook, Jr. Her 12 great-grandchildren: Bradley, Keaton, Isaiah, Winston, Emma, Jack, Jace, Tatum, Jordan (Morgin), Whitney (Cameron), Caitlin (Wil), and Yessi; 2 great-great grandchildren Oliver, Bella, and a third baby due in January 2026. She also leaves behind her loving nephews, Larry (Janet) Baker, Ronnie (Kathy) Baker, and Mike (Tracy) Baker.
As a talented seamstress, Mary Lois filled her closet with beautiful homemade clothes worthy of any department store. A love of shoes, purses, and jewelry added flare to her handiwork. She baked the best homemade biscuits, and her chocolate and lemon icebox pies were her family favorite. She enjoyed scenic country drives, stopping for milkshakes, apple slushies, and ice cream. Having adored cats from an early age, she was rarely without a furry friend by her side.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends and family are invited to visitation, at the funeral home, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery and Mausoleum.
